Trace

there you are, again, on my mind
what I can’t outrun, can’t unwind
always just ahead, everywhere behind
there you are, again, on my mind

what do I do with all that is left?
no closer that comes, leaves me bereft
a heart unsure, a heart that is cleft
I’m not like you, I’m not that deft

guess I’m not that good, at trying to hide
all these feelings held for ransom here inside
believe me, it’s not like I haven’t tried
there you are, again, on my mind

did what I could, but I lost the race
trying to move on, and do it with grace
take all this feelings that were misplaced
I can never say you didn’t leave a trace
