Town Children

Not like stately elms do town children line up nor like gnarled oaks More like weeping willows as they yearn for the elusive health of their county cousins or the sullen slang of city slickers September 08, 2019 Town Children Poetry Contest Sponsor: Julia Ward

Gershon, there was a tremendous difference when my family moved from the city to the country when I was eight. Ironically, I didn't know any children with disabilities until we got to the country and I met a girl with polio and another who was blind. Being in the country didn't help them so much, but I loved being able to play outdoors more often. Enjoyed your poem! Hugs, Carolyn

Thank you for making time for such an in-depth comment. Interestingly, just three houses down the block from my family lived a polio victim, who died at age 12 in the early 1960's... Thank you for your support, Carolyn. Best wishes, Gershon

Getting upset with judges never helps, but I agree that Gershon's great poem should place high! Have a great week, Bobby.

Oh, Bobby, I appreciate your enthusiasm here, please don't follow through on this!! As we all know, everyone's taste is different, uniquely personal, and what one may like, another may not go for. So, thank you so, so much for the encouragement and endorsement, even if the poem doesn't even place in the contest. Blessings, Gershon
