Notes About The Poem

The Lee Resolution also known as "The Resolution for Independence" was the formal assertion passed by the Second Continental Congress on July 2, 1776 resolving that the Thirteen Colonies (the United Colonies) were "free and independent States" and separate from the British Empire. This created what became the United States of America and news of the act was published that evening in The Pennsylvania Evening Post. The following day in The Pennsylvania Gazette. The Declaration of Independence which officially announced and explained the case for independence was approved two days later on July 4, 1776—wiki

All good to know. Amazing after that difficult time almost 250 years ago, some would take us back to the rule of an oligarch class over the many. A lot of people don't seem to get the point of that revolutionary thinking and would prefer to live in a feudalistic society. Smiles!!

After the bloodshed for freedom, it's an abomination. Until the end of his reign. With gerrymandering in progress (political manipulation of electoral district boundaries to advantage a party, group, or socioeconomic class within the constituency) do we stand a chance? Smiling back!
