I had never done anything like this before, but I figured I better do it now. I'm 73 and not getting any younger; not that I can see in the mirror; anyway
Tour De Pumpkin

I rode the Tour de Pumpkin
It was only yesterday
Was in the hills of Rutherford
My choice, the 50 K
For the more experienced
A 100K was twice as far
If I had chosen that one
Would have traveled it by car
As it was, was on my bike
An off road fifteen speed
Wasn't long before I knew
Was not as many as I'd need
The climbing steep and daunting
The downhills short and sweet
By the time I'd reached the halfway
My legs were burger meat
The fifty and the hundred
Shared a start and finish route
Some distance riders passing me
When I was still miles out
I was wondering what happened
When they passed fast on a hill
I was in the lowest gear
And had almost had my fill
Was creeping up Mount Everest
Would be faster just to walk
They yelled that “you can make it”
And not just talk the talk
My energy was not renewed
But my brain was now in gear
If the best of them believed I could
The finish line was clear
It only got much harder
But I rode and did not walk
In four hours crossed the finish line
Now these rhymes have talked the talk
