Toujours
The first smile, the perfection of a fantasy,
Conversation appears out of thin air, laughs endlessly fill the room,
The loneliest parts, the scars, the heartbreak, all fading away;
But are these feelings Forever?
The first ‘I love you,’ a time stopping connection,
The whisper of the tree, the flowing of the water,
Eyes set on each other, hearts racing, adoring smiles;
But maybe this can be Forever?
The first dance, the love, and safety of the stars,
Fingers laced together, two lost souls finally intertwined,
Clumsy, little stumbles, turns, and steps,
The comfort and warmth of a fairy tale;
But can’t this dance last Forever?
The first flinch, betrayal and violence ruining the memories,
Faces red, holes in walls, opposite sides shine through,
One mistake made into an epiphany of a sea of flaws,
Yells echo, tears burn, voices strain, scars reopen;
But should I still want this Forever?
The last hug, memories from their past filling her mind,
The lies, the sorrow, the agony,
It wasn’t worth the love, the trust, the time she gave him,
The walls of her heart burned to a crisp, the scars in her worsened;
I hope this doesn’t last Forever…
