Tortured Souls
we are tortured souls
that bask in the sun
we feel it burn away our pain
and warm our faces
our teary eyed smiles are not filled
with joy but with relief
we visit the sea of our sadness
and feel the sand between our toes
the wind of our exasperated sighs wisp delicately though our hair
we dive in to the ocean with waters
made up of the product of our despair
is now the cause of our satisfaction
the salt from our eyes now cleans our wounds
the two of us arrive back to the shore not dead
but on a new plain of life
We are tortured souls
that bask in the moon light
we welcome the beams of familiarity
and the darkness not passing judgment
our starry eyes are merely reflecting the stars
not the shining of leaking emotions.
Contentment a feeling,
an old friend that we had departed from long ago
now returns with a warm feeling and welcoming embrace
Peace something I am not sure we have experienced is now here
We are tortured souls that bask in the darkness
under many layers of earth enveloping us down in to it
Finally dead and finally living
We fear for our last moments and at the same time we are anxious
It is done
