Too Much

Too much beauty makes my eyes hurt
and my puny heart feel undeserved
Too much hope makes my gut cramp
and dims the light of my lamp
Too much of anything makes me want too much
It's odd how things are as such
yet too much waiting has taught me patience
and to bask in the warmth of my salvation

So I thank the Lord for the tests and trials
they purify me, mile by mile
and I praise His almighty plan and will
He tells me when to move and when to stand still
I knocked on the door and He said "Enter,
Come in out of that cold, cold winter"
Too much time spent running away
taught me the importance of finding somewhere to stay
