Too Comfortable

Regrets pile up like blown paper against a fence on some abandoned building site that has a sign "Keep Out". Questions are asked why the structure never went ahead, why it barely made it past a hole in the ground or climbed no higher than a course or two of bricks. So many dreams end this way, starved of effort or courage or belief. Often the seeds are sown when drawing up the plan, seen magnificent in someone's mind, there to stay, too comfortable protected in its conceptual womb, never really wanting to be born and risk everything on that first taken breath, much like a frightened self facing love.

Certainly makes you wonder Paul. Its kind of hard to imagine a favourable reason for such a plight to befall a plot of land. So many mysteries in life. Some we don't even contemplate. So many untold stories waiting for someone to give them credence, and print their lost meanings. You probably guessed by now, I like your poem. Thank you.

Great to receive your comments Wendy, thankyou. Standing on the edge of change, comfort pulling one way, growth the other is a dilemma we face at times. Appreciate you giving the poem a little of your space and time...very kind of you.

I like exploring your thoughts, Paul. i guess the old cliche', "it sounded good at the time" is appropriate here, That and people not counting the cost before they start. Last, some dreams are just that, dreams. A pleasure to read you this evening:)

Best of luck exploring my thoughts, I have a hard time trying to figure them out for myself. Seriously though, very much value the time you put into reading and commenting on my poems Daniel. Trusted voice...thanks.
