Too Black
If I sigh, in frustration,
I have an attitude.
If I arch my brows,
I'm confrontational.
If I bow my back or tilt my head,
I'm ghetto.
When I explain
"that I'm not anti police",
but I AM Anti-Corruption,
Anti-Inadequate Training,
and Anti-Sweeping all of that
bull mess under the rug,
I'm labeled un-American.
When I express concerns about
presidential policies,
presidential tactics,
presidential ineptness,
presidential whackness...
and how the tricked out
trickle down, affects my
"Too Real For You" Blackness...
I'm called unpatriotic.
And, how dare I suggest that
unpatriotic is better than idiotic...
I'm then (not so)
cordially, encouraged
to take my black ass back to Africa,
When the only Africa
that I'm familiar with,
is the one brought up
every time America
wants my black ass,
to pack my black ass sh!t.
But, but, but....
I love America!
I swear, it's true.
I say it with all sincerity...
It's some of the people,
I just can’t do.
Town to Town, City to City,
State to State.
All love.
No hate.
BUT, no matter my
good deeds & intentions,
or my caring ways,
Some will always want
to misconstrue.
Tuh.
It is what it is.
I'll always be too black for you.
