Tomorrow Buys Today

Global warming has fueled climate change; the ice sheets at both poles are melting fast, as oceans and deserts increase their range. Whales and porpoises beaching, sad and strange, nearing extinction, perhaps they're the last; global warming has fueled climate change. People are acting like a dog, with mange, scratching out a living, as in the past; as oceans and deserts increase their range. Tomorrow buys today; that's the exchange, greed pushes progress, with few questions asked; global warming has fueled climate change. Though fixes and theories interchange, the amount of damage is way too vast; as oceans and deserts increase their range. We've lost any hope time will rearrange nature's scheduled changes; the die's been cast. Global warming has fueled climate change; as oceans and deserts increase their range.

Emile, your poem was extremely well-written, simple, and outlined a major world problem--climate change. You certainly deserved this high place in my villanelle contest. Thanks so much for submitting. It was a pleasure reading your poem.

Not many people seem to know this but the icecaps have melted at least five times since the last ice age. The whales and dolphins will be fine. As for us... that is less sure. Have a great day my friend.

Thanks David, I don't know where you are getting your facts from, but the whales and dolphins will probably be extinct by the end of this century and the ice packs have never melted since the ice age...they have ebbed and flowed but never melted completely, I appreciate your comments my friend, Emile.

This is a wonderfully scripted Villanelle, Emile. It's content is dismally factual and ignored by so many.
