Tomorrow

The lighter flicks to life, And for five minutes I’m content. With each drag I feel alive, Yet heavy and filled with poison. This used to be our thing, Now I do it alone. Sitting in my car, No one to talk to. No one to laugh with, no one. You’re still in my heart, And always in my head. Yet we’re still apart, I’m left with an empty bed I remember all things so grand, And all things that led to this. Not so long ago we looked at wedding bands, But now I do not know if I’ve been given the last kiss. I’m alone, contemplating life and mistakes. I’m alone, dreaming of a possible future. I’m doing whatever it takes, To make a positive life, for sure. But in all honesty, my life without you, It can never be the same. There’s a chance, you’ve told me so, Where you’d still take my last name. But I’ve got to continue working. For me to be happier and clear. But will I see you in the sunshine of tomorrow, Where I’ll see you as Mrs. ...
