Tommy's Summer Fun

The sun ascended on the eastern shore as Tommy awakened to the day. With eyes now opened, he jumped from his bed, excited. He remembered, it’s the first day of summer vacation. He is not about to waste the day lying around, He would be off right after breakfast. He grabbed his lunch he made the night before So not to waste more time and ran from the yard Even before the door slammed shut. He met up with his friends at the ball field, But to his dismay, older kids already made claim. So, in a chair he waited, watched and napped. His eyes opened again later that morning to a lunchtime sun. He quickly ate down his lunch and ran to the fishing hole to meet up with others. There, he planted his pole by his side, with hopes of catching the big one. So, in a chair he waited, watched and napped. His eyes opened later to the late afternoon sun. He quickly went and got his bike and rode to the five and dime. There, he met some friends And together, they taunted the passers-by. He felt the evening sun descend and knew he should leave. Heading home he couldn’t help but feel how great summer is, No cares in the world, a day of whatever, each day. Tommy arrived for dinner with a smile on his face. When he was asked what he had done His reply was with glee and he said “just about everything”.
