Tolerant and Complacent

When terrible  things in life become more common
They become less terrible
And a societies norm
There lies the danger
We become more tolerant and complacent
And we tend to just look away
So our hearts are no longer torn.

From the homeless on the cold streets
To the old Lady attacked and beat
By evil thugs
Not just content with robbing
To buy drugs.

It's true sometimes we just have to switch off
Enough is enough
There's just too much hate in the world
And not enough understanding
Caring and love.

As our world gets colder
And more people are getting older
And our government doesn't seem to care
If they live or die
For they are the same people who once
Made our country great
And make no mistake
It's not great or something we
Should be proud of any more.

Open up you're hearts
Speak up for the weak
Show some human kindness
Be humble caring and meek.

We are all really brothers and sisters
Under the same moon stars and sun
Despite our many differences
Lets try yo live as one.

Some people seek peace
Others only war
Lets make a stand together
And make the world
A better place once more.

Peter, you have written a poem with a powerful message.The message of a united people speaks loud and clear. We all should try to express love to one another even if it's challenging. Hi Alexis. thank you so much. yes. many of our differences, are based on ignorance fear and lack of understanding. misunderstanding, is one of the biggest problems we have today. I believe. and lack of tolerance. Another problem, is we all have the gift of free will. some use it for good some for bad. some want peace some want war. money sex and power are strong forces, that in many cases leads to poverty, greed and the breakdown of society. peopke used to vote for the good of the country and others, now they tend to vote for their own self interests. the rich get rich the poor get poorer, well it's those same downtrodden people, who fight wars and give their live's for the powers that be. nobody wins war, because the cost of live's is too high. but to the powers who start wars, there is vast amounts of blood money
