Today Is My Birthday
straight to the heart can't even dig a flying fart left open to blame
through a forest of gloom better off cleaning your room to stay
each heart is delicate ways you search for words in the middle
my instant coffin came laughing bent to house every leave on the tree
we all congregate on words that taste past the squeeky wheel
love has claimed as no big deal through a port in the storm building bridges
the thoughts of the master things that shine faster we collect the cup
at each venture given some get lost in a prison not to think awful given
bread of fascination now why I'm asking climb to the edge of the mountain
swing high through each frequency softened with pale proof dignity
my words are choiced my words start to mingle a chance to deliver
just ask Oscar Gambel we fight to deliver in sunburned offer
Today Is My Birthday
write to be gentle write to be good
write when you fall asleep down deep in the hood
beaten memory to pause
I'm 48 feel like Iv'e been out on some weird date
pull the covers off my eyes come as no surprise
listen to the applause to all hearers being clashed together
sitting down by the river
I salute the elderly I assist with the pain not having you in my arms is driving me insane
