Notes About The Poem

Had to write something for Constitution day.

Today Is Constitution Day

Today is Constitution Day
By Franklin Price

Today is Constitution day
Accepted many years ago
Our government defined therein
Explains how things should go

Politicians of today
Honor it when they see fit
If it doesn't follow what they want
They deviate more than a bit

Works fairly well, most of the time
Though none have read it much
Claim ignorance of the law that's there
Don't have to stay in touch

The longer they're in office
Seems the more that they ignore
It's time now to replace them
And vote them out the door

When replacements know the reason
The Constitution they may read
And follow what is written there
Which is not graft and greed

I know I am an optimist
And I will be 'til I die
To find an honest politician
Is like grabbing pie out of the sky

I think that every congressman, senator even president should have to read the constitution before taking office and then once a year after that. Doesn't mean they would abide by it but we could call them on it. Great write, Franklin! I enjoy your political writes. We seem to share a common viewpoint. Blessings!

Thanks for visiting and commenting. to me certain things are obvious with national politicians. One of my questions has always been - Why would a millionaire want to follow public service? I don't think it's out of a need to serve only a need to profit. Just my opinion. Please visit again.

Enjoyed your poem this morning. It seems to be the frustrating woes of many a country. Regards, Craig

I think politicians are the same the world around. When they get elected, they believe they are better than those by whom they were elected. Maybe even royalty. Thanks for visiting
