Today is a High Holiday the Day of Atonement

Today is the Jewish Day of Atonement,
A day to look deep into your thoughtful soul.
To make things right, with all you’ve wronged.
And stop, with your own, self-righteous songs.

To contact each person in fullest honesty!
Later in synagogue, honor in song, our beloved dead.
And of any harm you caused the living, make things right.
Yom Kippur begins ….as the golden sun sets tonight!

Last week we celebrated the first day of New Year, Rosh Hashanah,
The day that Adam was created, the very most mbeginning
Of all the most colorful, human race.
The Jewish New Year, with joyousness, I hope do partake.!

Am Yisrael Chai!

Panagiota Romios

Dear Pangie, I hate myself for being absent for so long and then to come back to find this joyful poem, and after I learned of your passing. May you receive my message on angel's wings, your poem is lovely. RIP dear heart.

Thank you for writing this amazing tribute to Yom Kippur, Pangie. You know more about the actual workings of the holy day than do the majority of American Jews, I venture to say. Bravo! ~ Gershon

Hi Pangie did you see the news regarding the two Jewish men killed in Manchester, there is too much hate in the UK at the moment, the free Palestinian hate marches which are held in London every Saturday should be banned, our government should be ashamed of themselves for allowing it to Carry on.

Pangie, your poem beautifully captures the spiritual gravity and emotional richness of the High Holidays. I especially love how it weaves personal reflection with communal ritual--"honor in song, our beloved dead” is deeply moving. The closing lines feel like a heartfelt invitation to renewal and connection. "Am Yisrael Chai," indeed!

This poem is fitting for today. Very typical that a Muslim would kill Jews on this holy day. Great Britain rewarded the Hamas monsters and look what happens. Muslims want to kill all non Muslims period. When will people get it?
