Listen to poem:
lesson four nights will never be the same it’s not easy to fall asleep in a bed made for one i received the body pillow I ordered thinking… i don’t know what i was thinking thinking i’d at least try to fill the void of you day and night i talk to you hoping you’ll answer you’re the unbearable absence ever haunting the silence and if i can’t have you i’ll embrace the pain of you being gone sleep the fickle friend it is the precious gift indeed when gently into the night it visits with its soothing caress and ever so lightly drift in like a whisper its merciful dreams Published in my 24-page photo/anthology book ~TODAY I LEARN TO BE A WIDOW~ 2020 AP: Honorable Mention 2020 Posted on December 3, 2020

I read once that grief is the tax we pay for love-- but oh, it is such a heavy tax....

That exact thought crossed my mind this morning ~ I want to hover somehow in the realm of "and it was so worth it" because it really was...

Line...a tremendous loss. I know that Feeling. Life somehow works out, in wonderfully surprising ways. A beautiful write, Line. Love, Pangie xx

Line, we humans never get over a great loss, in time get through, but never all the way. Our patience will be tested, as we can't rush the healing process. I will keep you in my prayers if that is OK. Especially at this time, take care.

Dearest Line your words describe exactly how it feels and my heart goes out to you as you live each day without dear Dennis. Grief is a jouney that some of us have to travel and to express your pain in words can in some way be cathartic. Bless you dear Line and may you eventually find solace and peace as Dennis would want for you. With kindest thoughts and hugs from Ann xx

Line, I totally agree with what Alexis said below. You are providing words for those who have a wordless ache. You are reaching out with arms of empathy for any who have an empty place. "you’re the unbearable absence ever haunting the silence". Wow. Pure poetry. ~ John

I’ve been conversing with two Aunts that lost their husbands a week apart. They say nighttime is the hardest as is eating alone. So sorry, Line. I hope you have loved ones who cherish you. My heart goes out.

It must be so hard to come to terms with the loss of a loved one line. I hope in time you can come to terms with it and find happiness again. Tom
