Today

Lonely trees silhouetted in the misty night,
Reflected in the still dark waters below.
Standing and waiting for the dawn to come,
Releasing them from their solitary vigil…
Then sunlight comes, warming leaf and limb
With the sounds of life emerging,
Adorning trees and earth below,
Preparing for yet another day.

Are we not like the lonely trees?
Waiting for the dawn to come,
Releasing us from our emptiness,
Then awakening to a brighter day.
Filled with promise of a new beginning.
Will it be filled with joy or pain?
Embracing the good, perpetuating the bad,
Only you can decide how to fill your TODAY…
It is the only one you have.
