Today

Today...
the sky is gray.
There aren't many cars
on the highway.

The trees are solemn
as they sway in the gentle breeze
that chills my face.

I see...
the winter clouds approaching.
The earth seems to be at a standstill,
animals hibernate.
While I re-evaluate.

Winter is
a dismal time
The sun
will seldom shine.

Flowers exist no more.
Grass lays close
to the earth's floor.

It is time to slow the pace
while the earth rejuvenates.
To soon emerge with grace
showing off her brand new face.
