Today

Scattered regrets and promises lay strewn across my morning floor
The hot life-giving caffeine courses through my veins
I stumble out into the cool dawn, tripping over my emptiness
Uncertainty is my only constant
I look to tomorrow for that bleak little tattered thing called hope
But tomorrow never comes
Tomorrow is always just today
