Today

What is happening to the world today?
Where people aren’t safe as they go on their way,
What has happened to trust and belief?
Where you dare not walk on your own down the street.

Gone are the days of “good morning” good night”,
Now we have day’s of “whose there?” fuelled with fright.
Our children can’t play as they did once before,
We dare not let go because we’re not sure.

How can they grow up to be trusting and kind?
When we open the papers each day just to find.
That some one somewhere has taken a life,
And violence and crime appear to be rife.

It’s just not fair it has to be said,
We should feel at ease at night in our bed.
Instead we just worry we hope and we pray,
That the world will some how be safer one day.
