To You, My Piano Teacher
Dear Elisabeth,
Our journey has come to an end.
Exciting, yet adventurous.
Exam day,
You are an angel,
Soft as a feather.
I still remember which music I played.
I was terrified.
But fortunate.
A freezing winter Monday,
To a heating summer Friday.
Our happy faces never fade.
Until that day,
Gala day.
My heart sunk.
To the bottom of the sea,
Fallen into pieces,
Never coming up,
Never going back together.
When I go into the lights,
When the audience claps,
When I’m with the orchestra living my dream,
But memories with you,
Filled my entire brain.
All I can think was
“This is for you”
My first and last time sharing this moment with you.
I went out there,
My fingers weren’t playing notes,
My fingers played my heart.
It played my story with you.
Not Greig’s story,
Not a made up story,
But our story,
A true story.
Three years,
36 months,
156 weeks,
1096 days.
We’ve come so far.
You watched me grow,
Helped me to achieve my dream.
Never imagined this day fast forwarded a year,
Unexpected.
When the leaves start to fall,
When the breeze becomes cold wind,
When the clock runs out of battery,
Take the ferry and start a new adventurous journey.
Your student,
Melody
