To Try Again

To throw something made of glass
Against a cold hard brick wall
To hear it shatter
And watch the pieces fall
To start a fire
And watch the flames rise
So you can hide behind the dark and sadistic
It's only a disguise to keep what's hidden inside
So that no one can see your fear
Or know the pain you hide
In this you are sincere
Because in no one you confide
You shut the world out
For fear of getting close to someone new
The hurt from your past has filled you with doubt
If they can't get in the cant hurt you
And that’s what this is really about
Once upon a time someone said “I love you too"
But then just like all the rest he left you all alone
And now you’re angry because you thought his words true
And yet now he’s nowhere to be found, good and gone
You sit and wait for his return
But more days come and more days pass
And you my dear have come to learn
Even in the darkest days
Light can be found
In many different ways
You just have to pick yourself up off the ground
Brush off the past
And embrace the new
Baby girl you’re stronger than you think you are
You just have to believe in you
Cuz in the end
The hardest task you’ll ever have to endure
Is to get back up and try again!
