To the Songs that Saved My Life

I found a way to dance with my rage from the comfort of my room
I learned how to speak, how to scream without sound
Let my body do the talking
I wanted to move and be moved
As the music filled my skin
These notes carved their way through my bones becoming my refuge, in me grew a home
This rhythm the air in my lungs
I learned what it meant to be truly alive
