To the Beleaguered Who Overcome
A toast to the beleaguered who overcome
Refusing to let setbacks claim the victories,
Who press forward, refusing to succumb,
Claiming laurels, earning the valedictories.
Refusing to let setbacks claim the victories
Success becomes part of their very natures,
Claiming laurels, earning the valedictories
They are the leaders who face down dangers.
Success becomes part of their very natures
Never settling for anything less than the best
They are the leaders who face down dangers,
Standing courageously ahead of the rest.
Never settling for anything less than the best,
They’ve suffered the pains of failure past,
Standing courageously ahead of the rest
They solemnly vow never to come in last.
They’ve suffered the pains of failure past,
Who press forward, refusing to succumb
They solemnly vow never to come in last
A toast to the beleaguered who overcome.
