TO THE ANGEL OF DUSK
Messenger of celestial thresholds,
you who hold in your hands the ultimate key of the realms,
you whose selflessness crosses empires and topples thrones,
hear the invocation of one who knows none can escape you.
The coldness of your face is not terror but truth,
for you strip kings of their crowns,
and the destitute of their chains,
you level the mighty and the weak,
you remind the proud of the nothingness of their flesh.
I do not come to repel you,
for you are neither enemy nor executioner,
but guardian of passage,
silent scribe who closes the book of time.
When you draw near, let my lips be pure,
let my heart stand as an offering,
let my faults vanish before your unalterable seal.
Grant me to leave this world without fear,
grant me to enter your realm as one crosses a door,
not fleeing, but consenting,
for you are but the hand of the One who calls.
Angel of dusk,
make my last breath a psalm,
make of my dust a seed for eternity,
and lead my soul to the dwelling the earthly eye ignores.
Clock of the ultimate decree,
you whose wing erases calendars and reduces centuries to dust,
I call upon you not to delay your approach,
but to walk toward you with the dignity of the ancient prophets.
When you rise at my threshold,
do not find a heart bound by the chains of Earth,
but a soul raised like a torch,
ready to join the blaze of eternities.
I do not ask for escape,
but for a clear crossing,
a passage pure as a torrent of tumult freed from its dams.
Let your hands tear away my doubts,
let your serenity consume my falsehoods,
and let nothing remain of me but the essence the Infinite has willed.
If my memory dissolves, engrave my name in the book of the incorruptible.
If my flesh breaks, make of it an offering to the cycle of rebirths.
If my spark goes out, let it become a symphony borne to the throne of the Most High.
For you are not ending but beginning,
not downfall but ascension,
not loss but revelation.
Through you, I shall return to my origin
and behold the void without decline.
