To My Long Lost Friend

There was once a time When there was you and I And we had shared A friendship beyond compare No matter how long We had been apart Whenever we met Our bond was untouched And I remember parks Laughter and jokes I remember your eyes How they smiled And then we were separated And I didn't know How far you'd gone And long you'd be Years pasted And you were A faint memory In the back of my mind But every once and a while I remembered you And our treasured friendship And I smiled But then you were Just a passing thought Sometimes you'd come by Others not What happened I heard Was so sad But not for children To understand So when I remembered you Once again years past I looked for you And I found you My heart sped up And my eyes filled up You look so grown And yet I got that familiar feeling The bond of friends That could be siblings Forever there For one another Yet I didn't make contact And I guess That's my mistake I'll learn from And one day I pray That on the street Of anywhere we are We shall meet again
