To My Daughter

I nearly lost her in a car accident a couple of years ago, so now she's even more
precious!

You are so beautiful -
Your green eyes nestle below dark lashes
as you view the world with youthful vision.

You are so beautiful -
as you light up the room with your entrance
and entrance its occupants with your smile.

You are so beautiful -
deliciously scatty flying in and out of
our home and our hearts with energetic vivacity.

You are so beautiful -
your capacity of embracing opportunity
and success is unsurpassed and touching.

You are so beautiful -
you still get childishly excited by the snow:
your voice aglow as you tell me on the 'phone, 'it snowed!'

You are so beautiful -
even when you annoy me and we shout
I love you more than life itself, for you are mine.

You are so beautiful -
silent tears as I write this, but they are proud,
loving tears, tears because you truly are

My beautiful daughter.
