To My Darling
You are the sun, the moon, and the stars,
the very breath of the universe.
Everywhere I go,
the thought of you accompanies me.
The flame of the candle
the ruffle of the Springtime breeze,
the smell of the freshly cut flower--
Yes, they are wonderful, my darling,
but you surpass them all.
O, Ecstasy!
When your gaze meets mine,
The angels of heaven sing in full-throated chorus,
The oceans give forth their mighty roar,
And the very Universe trembles in dumbstruck awe.
If ever you would leave me, my darling,
The sun would be blotted from the sky,
My world would collapse in upon itself,
Turning into a deadly black hole--
I into a silence-singed dwarf star.
