To Live With Monsters
There was once a girl who lived with monsters.
She breathed in their air,
she felt their hands ruin her flesh,
she tasted their bitterness on her tongue.
And it festered on her there,
rotting it on the inside out
but she never ran away.
Was she afraid?
Was she in love?
No one knows now,
she is hardly here to tell the tale.
Her bones protrude from her flesh,
her eyes have fallen into her skull,
her skin is translucent.
Blue veins spider web through her system,
the mirror does not recognize her.
There once was a girl, who lived with monsters,
so they say. But does she live still?
