To Late To Say Goodbye

There is a bitterness inside me; One I can't describe.
A sadness so to say, a longing gone awry.
So difficult a task, to much effort to put forth.
Why try- it's just another day.
A blanket of sorrow, with tears of joy and pain.
The past is gone-no effort to retrieve.
 What's done today is over.
Why bother- just for another day.
In the bitter end with no time to spare,
how much we would give to wish, for just one more day.

We all have regrets about things we could have said and done and then when someone dies its too late for regrets- a salutatory lesson for us all. Great poem with a strong message. Hugs Jan
