To Lady Day

Bars of misfortune
singing dark memories

Nightmares once stillborn
—beguiling again

She did have a tumultuous life but man could she sing. I read where she was still doing drugs in the hospital as she was dying. Now that is addiction! You have great taste, Kurt:)

I watched a documentary where Miles Davis and Zoots Sims talked about what it was like to see her 'live.' I wore her albums out when I was in college. She was actually born here in Philadelphia. Thanks again.
