To Know You
i know you
almost
as well as
i know myself
over the years
i have learned
your moods
your face
each expression
each crease
each worry line,
each crinkle around your eyes.
where they began
why they are there
would i erase them
if i could?
never...
for if i could
if they were no longer a part of you...
it would take away
your past
and mine..
and ours together....
perhaps there are different..
more delicate ways of saying
that life with you is good to live...
but knowing you,
as well as I do...
i know this will do
