To Kill Beauty

He fell from the sky- shot in his small heart,
   floating down to earth,
his soft beautiful feathers fluttering in the whirling w i l d wind,
oh, he had soared in the lush forests and
                                 above flowing streams-
Now his fierce cry silent forever,
dead eyes look up at the sky and I ask- w h y ! WHY! W H Y !
What coward hid in the bushes to kill beauty?

True, has to be a coward, no answer for why? as long as the greed of man rules him:( you've brought out a beautiful truth here, Constance:)

I love this, Constance. I feel this way too upon seeing such acts of cruelty. You are a poet after my own heart!

The imagery in your write is sad yet beautiful. Just yesterday I watched as two Bald Eagles flew in there courtship dance around the boat I was driving at Disney. It was enthralling.

What evil swells where hearts dwell. For some the Garden of Eden looks so different than what you and I would see. I think this poem talks volumes about life as we know it. I love this write.

Now his fierce cry silent allowed me to picture an eagle or a hawk..a very sad poem and I'm left with no answer to the question of why for there is no reason
