To Hell With This

For one night only satan decides, to offer me a look around hell
An open house, I’m able to walk in freely roam about come back out
No strings attached no tricks, or punishment
I ask God will he hold it against me, he says no, for you only look
So with nothing to lose I enter, albeit with some trepidation
But this soon dispels, when I see what’s on offer
Wealth beyond imagination at my disposal, to do with as I please
Most beautiful women, tailor made for every fantasy, all mine to indulge
I don’t even have to marry any of them,
Every delicacy, food, drink, and drugs, constantly on tap
No hangovers or consequences, no need to get up early ever again for work,
or indeed work at all for that matter
I do recognize some of history’s most nasty bastards
But they pose no threat, just go about there own business
Even some people I knew and liked, reside here looking extremely happy
I’m confused, if this is hell, how can heaven be any better
There’s more than enough here, to satisfy me for eternity
To be honest, I don’t even want to come back out
But I must the tour of hell is over
I turn to God and ask, can I have a look into heaven now
You already have, judging by your face, God says in jest
Ok why not, let’s go inside, taking me by the hand,
I cannot tell you what I’ve seen, not because It’s disallowed
More because I don’t know how,
Honestly it’s indescribable, beyond all human imagination
And I am only human, I think I proved that, down in hell.

what do we expect to find in heaven Christopher; that for some has already been achieved here on earth, that’s why I use the metaphor indescribable. We’re aspiring for something beyond human comprehension, don’t get me wrong I’m not rubbishing the belief of heaven, we all long for something better, maybe it’s peace permanence and perfection, or something more than hope, cheers David
