To Grow

to undo the creases in life
and unfurl a latent quest to try
to deny a choosy fad
and trail its wake with depth
to scan a bruise and rail
how life bears a sordid tale
to endure a trial
and refute a pleasing smile
to plead and pray
and refine a sinking day
to whisk a solemn wish
re-spice it and wait for time to raise it
to run two mazy miles
when all life fails is mine
to craft the blues for me
and show me bright blue seas
to immerse in broken time
a need to grow and imply my kind
to say when growth’s so wrong,
minds that grow can lie forlorn
