To Death

To Death… A toast in tainted wine
Let glasses ring its somber chime
As shadows cast its name in black
To Death we walk… with no path back

To Death… whose fame has spanned the ages
Only love has penned more pages
Only time outlives its quill
To Death … To Death ‘till all is still

To Death… and to its secret kept
While all that live have stood and wept
To Death… and to its final kiss
I give a life… that I shall miss

Not so fast, Jane! while we have one breath left, miracles can occur. Can we give one breath to a oerson just taken by Death? So dont give IT too much credit. In John 11, Jesus resurrected a man dead for 4 days (Lazarus), & Jesus defeated Death when He rose from the tomb. I just like your poem, but had to say my say, too. shalom / blessings
