To Covet a Rose

Why does the bee covet the rose?
And dewdrops to petals cling
Cupid send loving arrows
And why do warblers sing?

Oh why will the moth fly to fire?
Give so dearly to mystery
To satisfy some blind desire
With his act of destiny

How can love bring me tears?
That a smile can wipe away
Your touch can calm my fears
In what your whispers say

You are the rose! it is you
So special you came to be
From the garden where you grew
And then you bloomed for me
