To Choose

What to do
When the task is completed
Where to go
When the destination has been reached

Misguided slight of hand
Surrenders fragile essence

How to breathe
When the air dissolves to ash

Speechless
And refusing to hear

Whom to love
When the mind eats the heart

The lamb falls victim
To the lust of the lion

How to judge
The confused paradox of a single decision
How to weigh
The eternal against the vain
How to see
When God puts out the light
How to speak
And not hear your own voice

What to choose

Consume the lie

Or starve for the truth
