To Burn And Mend

It must have been April when we both strayed
Vindictive, I refused to warm fire’s glow
When livid words raged... triggering my ire
Though pleading sorry, I shunned Kate’s hello.
Yet at nights when laughter used to ripple,
I knew burning bridges kept us apart ,
And missed all our years graced by kinship's bliss;

Enduring rain and snowstorm of life's chart
On Kate’s doorstep I knocked to mend this rift...
How my eyes burned like splinters of dark ray;
She had gone -- far off--- my closure too late
A void bitter ... oh on her natal day.

A sad ending, mending fences always the better option, Nette😊

Yes, don't wait until it is too late. Good moral to this one. Way to go. Thank you for sharing. Sara K. soupmail

Very Sad...perhaps she will return some day. Maybe next birthday. Much easier to break fences than to mend them. Heartfelt read, Nette.

Oh no too late to mend the fence of friendship. On her birthday too.
