Notes About The Poem

TO BEING NO LONGER CONFUSED AND AFRAID

Missed when first spoken,

But now the clanging echo

Is loud, clear, and rhythmically

Flowing into the cistern of divine

Wisdom and its supreme guidance:-

Even missed it when read

In biblical scripture—the mind’s

Ears often not deeply listening

To what the eyes were feeding:

Thus, missing the sage depth

Of allegorical messages:-

But today, all is as understood as

The comprehension of the cocooning

Metamorphosis of caterpillars and soaring

Butterflies leaving behind the emptiness

Of seemingly misguided adversity:-

You see, the simplicity of it all is this:

Freedom is a child of God’s sacred love;

And in God’s love, there cannot be any fear:-

When on the battlefield of the Lord, championing

Eyes on God’s love prize, debilitating fear can’t be:-

Thus, when it seems as if adversity

Is about to take over, we have but

To cry out in loving faith and hope:

Mercy, mercy, mercy, and know

That where is the love of and for freedom,

Shackling oppression is no match for liberation:-

So, let us keep our eyes on the prize

And keep fighting with the breastplates

Of hope and faith— coupled with mercy’s love:-

In abiding love, let us continue to greater heights—

That with greater love, our heirs will have less to do:-

So, there you have it, my beloved friends.

With and in loving faith, know and believe

God remains our light and salvation:-

Thus, let  us fear not; for in his love,

We are strengthened and need not be afraid.

His mercy and love will always remain in and with us:
The journey has been chartered, and there’s no turning back:-
