Notes About The Poem
5/26/2026 for Month of the Child Poetry Contest sponsored by Trina Layne
To Be Sure, a Child
Something I did with the spouse -
Presto! A new addition in the house.
And now, we two, are both beguiled,
you guessed, by a baby child.
Heaven forbid she cry or frown.
Suddenly, we play the clown
to make sure that she has smiled,
our little baby child.
With five cute toes on tiny feet,
sometimes crying, sometimes sweet,
I hope, today, her mood is mild,
our capricious baby child.
She's growing up, now, our little girl,
but she still wears a little curl.
She's something joyous, something wild,
to be sure, a child.
