Listen to poem:

To All the Senses

See the windows of our years open onto bolder days.
Hear the echo of melodious scores, carried away toward the horizon.
Feel unusual essences bring a newborn and soothing well-being.
Touch the cool emptiness of the breeze as it comes to fill the space.

See the world tip toward an uncertain future, heavy with worries.
Hear fury and turmoil erupt where gentle tolerance once reigned.
Feel such beautiful perfumes and understand there is always more to discover.
Touch with tenderness the skin of the loved one and feel emotions overflow.

See humanity become less and less human, and still search for the exception.
Hear the muffled, helpless cries of all those no longer heard.
Feel the strength of humus in freshly watered undergrowth.
Touch the roughness of the old oak, brush its mantle of lichen.

See nature transform, leaving the sensation of no longer recognizing it.
Hear the heavy, weighty silences that replace lost dialogues.
Feel the wild iodine of the foam wave crashing against a rock.
Touch the falling rain that comes to cleanse the ravages of our torments.

See how we move forward, often forgetting to reflect on our future destinies.
Hear the murmurs of hope still trying to find their way.
Feel in the distance that discreet bouquet of aromas offering the awaited signature.
Touch the damp earth and feel that it still keeps the memory of our steps.

Leave multiple imprints of notes over the passing days,
Offer an anchor point to the ephemeral to hold what crosses us,
And understand that our senses carry within them the memory of the world.

Your poem features a masterful, hypnotic structure that systematically guides the reader through every physical sense, transforming abstract emotional worries into deeply tangible physical experiences. The vivid contrast between the harsh realities of the world and the timeless, grounding textures of nature—like the rough lichen on an old oak or the damp earth—creates a deeply comforting and restorative atmosphere. The closing stanza serves as a profound and beautiful conclusion, gracefully shifting the focus from individual human perception to the idea that our bodies act as living archives for the memory of the world.
