Tired

Tearfully tired of all these bruised efforts, Broken promises, fractured smiles Wincing with the venom you spat, you flicked, You scalded me with, pretentious poison… The tears on the window reflect in my eyes, As I bite back a cry, to shout, to lash out, Against all these lies trickling down past your Contorted smirks. The backstabbing treats, as you offered acid sweets, And babbled on, baring blunt teeth, linking arms, Until someone better flaps down to caw at your swan song. Though the resentment burns my transparent eyes, Jaded, my jaw clenches, grinding down my bones. Silently scream my defence, which falls on dense minds, This mundane unjustness flares all the time, So I let the apathy bubble in my veins. My crystal blues now a greyscale shadow, And confident words hushed to a responsive whisper. Although I tire so much of my lacklustre ways, Isolation fuels the paranoia that yearns to rule my days.
