Tired

When you’re so tired that the pillows turn inside out.
Still falling into the tired feeling.
As you could sleep if you rolled over to the other side.
But you can’t move like that.
So tired that boulders are about to topple on you.
Balanced like you when you are drifting off.
When you’re so tired that glass of water next to you is bubbling sleepily on its own.
If someone called me right now.
I would answer in my dream.
I would eat the cereal that spilled on the floor.
When you’re so tired…
That you want the poem to end.
Tapping the keys while sleep taps its way in.
Still falling.
To the drifting side of things.
