Notes About The Poem

Tiny Toddler Has a Temper Tantrum

I was shopping in the local mall When a toddler just started to bawl He stamped his tiny feet And demanded a treat But his mum wouldn’t buy a football! He continued to scream and shout His small mouth displayed a huge pout But much to his chagrin His mum did not cave in Just warned him he could get a clout! His dad took the child by the hand And said words he could understand When your mummy says no Don’t put on a floor show - Good parenting really is grand! (Just for the record I'm not advocating it's good parenting to smack a child - it just happened to rhyme for the poem which is fictional) Incidentally in October 2017 Scotland was the first place in the UK to ban parents from smacking their child... I wonder how successful that will be! 12/24/17

Interesting Jan. I don’t believe in hitting a child. Reasoning has always worked. Btw, have a wonderful year and thanks for being here.

Thanks Duke I agree it is not good to hit a child but i can see why people lose their tempers with a child screaming and throwing a paddy:-( very best wishes for Christmas and new year ( its 12.23 here so really is Christmas day)hugs jan xx

I see children all the time throwing temper tantrums at the stores..A parent is not allowed here in the states either , but it has been going on for a very long time or jail time. Have a Merry Christmas! Hugs Eve ~`*

It surprises me that the parents stood their ground with their child because it seems like so many give in which is wrong…Those were two very fine rare parents in todays society! Great poem about good parenting Jan!~Che :)

It's actually a fictional poem but it is something I've witnessed on rare occasions as its all to easy to give in to the demands of a screaming toddler out in public. Incidentally in October 2017 Scotland was the first place in the UK to ban parents from smacking their child... I wonder how successful that will be!:-) hugs jan xx
