Notes About The Poem
There are those who carry the world quietly — the mothers, the pastors' wives, the prayer warriors, the ones who step in when no one else will. They hold the line, absorb the blows, and keep standing — not out of pride, but out of love and necessity. And somewhere along the way, they forget that they, too, are allowed to fall.
Time to Rise was written for them. For the ones who struggle in silence with depression, pain, and loneliness. For those whose wounds have gone unacknowledged — not because the wounds weren't real, but because someone else always seemed to need them more.
This poem is not a command. It is an invitation. Take your time. Read slowly. Let the words reach the places you have been protecting. Whether you are a pastor, a pastor's wife, a mentor, a spiritual leader, or a mother who has sacrificed her whole life long and is simply tired — these words are for you.
Your pain is valid. Your tears are not weakness. And this is your season to rise.
— Lovie Divine, God's Poetess
TIME TO RISE
You are not alone in this moment,
You are not wrong for crying,
This is your season and time to breathe,
Releasing, suffocating and dying.
Your grief, your silence, your loneliness,
Tears of anguish and sighing,
This is your time for deliverance from fears,
Here now is your season for rising.
You were never alone in your crisis,
Your crisis was not meant to forever last.
Jesus also wept being human,
Also asked if His cup may pass.
Man was made from the dust of the ground,
Woman taken from his side, and his rib,
God designed you perfectly without one blemish,
With all the love that He could give.
The pressure, the trauma, you were not meant to carry,
You carried as your responsibility,
But because Jesus knew the cross you would bear,
He beared it for you, for you to cast yours at his feet.
But in your life, though you were the hero,
The one holding it all together,
God didn’t mean for you to do this all alone
Knowing the storms that you would weather.
It wasn’t for pride, but for a necessity,
That made you step up to the plate,
The strength, courage and backbone it took,
Was a testament to your faith.
You are not cursed, being punished, or are you forgotten,
You are not judged for choices you made in love,
They were decisions based upon compassion and faith,
Being guided by God’s heart above.
Grief is not a sign that you are stuck,
It is a sign that your time for your healing is here,
It’s time to release the controls you’ve had to take,
Being the one who absorbed the blows and persevered.
It wasn’t because you were weak or naïve,
It was because you were the only one who would,
You stepped in when there was failure and loss,
Without a question of whether you should.
So this is not the end of your story,
This is the time for your ascent,
One breath, one release one day at a time,
to rise with no relent.
You are no longer in survival mode,
No longer carrying the weight of the world,
Letting go of the heaviness that kept you submerged,
And the troubles that made you a diamond or pearl.
From the test and trials that have shaped your faith,
The ocean floor was not for your destruction and demise,
It was a temporary place for your preparing,
A place from when you’d arise.
Time to no longer feel guilty for your wounds,
Because someone else somewhere is going through worse,
Your pain is valid. Your pain is real,
Not your life, scar to bear, nor your curse.
You acknowledge pain, fears, and hurt,
No longer pretending they don’t exist,
They are now no longer allowed to steal your joy,
They must stop cease and desist.
You will now release that which has drained you,
Carrying burdens that aren’t yours,
Apologizing for being human,
Standing under clouds that rain and pours.
For decades, you’ve been the provider, encourager, prayer warrior,
dutiful mother, Missionary, Pastor’s wife.
It’s been about doing, serving and problem-solving,
Holding the line, your whole life.
You’re wiser now, you’re more discerning,
Spiritually seasoned, now ready to receive than strive,
It’s your time now for the joy and rest, you have asked God for,
It’s now time, it’s now your season to rise.
