Time Peace

There is a tall clock in that hall.
We know that it's been there forever
but we cock an ear before we can hear it,
before paying enough attention.

Yet it is there, we know that - sometimes.
It seems to know that we are here - all times.
It is so serious while we laugh.
What a one-way tick-tock tryst -
it can be missed when attention is but a mist.
