Time Marches Forward

I want to be as steadfast as time,
Watch how she always marches forward,
Trip her, she won’t falter,
Push her, she won’t alter

But turn her around quick, and watch her,
see how only forward she goes,
notice how she doesn’t know
she’s stepping back on her echoes

Stomping on our days,
Stomping on our stars,
Stomping on our earth,
Stomping on our atoms,
Stomping on our spark,
the spark that started it all

Maybe that’s how it ends.
We end as we begin.
