Time For Tea
My father came to tea today.
It had taken several letters to call him here.
My messy thoughts kept him away.
What brought him was a tiny thing, a single tear.
I offered him a place to sit
then pour two cups of tea, made from a special blend.
A mix of sadness and regret
These we needed to share, to make the moments bend.
In a 70’s style jacket and tie
I was not surprised; time travel ghosts are the norm.
Words flowed with ease now no time for lies.
as past and future blended to a newborn form.
As father fades out of my sight,
My hope is he will become a regular guest.
My heart is now filled with delight
Old wounds, pain, and heartache have been put to rest.
